1. How does the “art” of listening fit within a Christian Worldview framework? Support your answer with Scripture.

2. Describe how the communication styles of diverse clients may be different from your own?

3. How do you think that self-disclosure may enhance the therapeutic alliance? How do you think that it may hinder it?

4. Asking too many questions is a common mistake that new counselors make. Discuss how you will try to diminish the number of questions you ask in counseling.

ETHICS

1. As you think about values and the helping relationship, what areas do you anticipate will be challenging for you if you encounter certain situations in practice?

2. What are ways in which you will establish and maintain healthy boundaries in your future counseling practice? How will you also attend to boundaries in your personal life?

3. Each of you who seek to become a licensed professional counselor will complete many hours of supervised training following completion of your graduate degree. What qualities will you look for in a supervisor? Why?
